Plato's Immateriality

Plato's discovery of the material world came about as a result of efforts to save the possibility of morality. He believed that unless moral terms can be fixed by reference to his forms, there could only be merely prudential arguments against that sort of behavior. The word "beauty" indicates an absolute quality, something beautiful in itself. This was probably the first moral, aesthetic form to which Plato attended closely.
