The Evolution of Silence in Turtles

Turtles are a parading that species for the transformation that has taken place in bioacoustics. Until about 10 years ago, herptologists, turtle biologists tended to assume that turtles were completely mute. They might occasionally make noise in the throes of dying or when mating, but in general they didn't make noise and they were very hard of hearing. In all of this turtle sociality, we discovered through listening through listening is actually just careful listening.
