Plutarch: Marius led his men fully avenged the lost army of arasio and all their countrymen who had died in many battles prior to that over the years. And such reports as we have put the number of dead or captured at the great battle of aqui sextia, at some hundred thousand men. After the battle, marius collected such of the arms and spoils of the barbarians as were handsome, intire and fitted to a show in his triumphal procession. All the rest heaped on a huge pyre and arranged for a magnificent sacrifice. He was just about to set fire to the pyre when some friends were seen riding swiftly towards him.
