Is There a Universal Primacy of the Bishop of Rome?
To get to the idea of having even scripture itself, i feel i have to make a giant leap with protestantism. When i read the bible, just historically, to figure out hat's the authority for christians are the apostles. And then when i get into the apostolic fathers, where do we see them saying this is the sole infallible rule of faith? You can get a few proof texts from hippolytus or irinaeus that i don't think prove the point. But you read ignatius of antioch, he says, follow the bishop as jesus christ follows the father.
