The hope is that we can follow the old medical mantra of preventions better than cure always. The body has recognized that there is an infection, it mounts a immune system response. And if we can tap into that and use the body's own early warning systems, we could intervene earlier and hopefully prevent what may be a simple infection becoming a more severe case of sepsis.
