The Mechanisms of Volcanic Eruptions
Volcanoes are ultimately caused by movement of magma at locations where the magma can ultimately rise to the earths surface. But there are more specific mechanism s that actually give rise to the eruption per se. In all cases, in order to have an explosion, you need expansion of typically gases. There are three main mechanisms that lead to the actual eruption itself. Exact nature of those will differ depending on the depending on the specific case. The final component is tefra which we'll talk about a litle bit later.
