The common name for the plant, the castor bean plant actually came about accidentally. Carl Linnaeus thought that the seeds were shaped and looked like a tick. It's great if you have someone with them in their garden,. pick one up, put it in your pocket and then just go like, "Oh, I think I just found a tick on your floor"
