There are probably more people who would like to be an MP or Prime Minister than in the police force. The job makes it very unattractive to a lot of people who you might hope would get into politics but even let's say we've got some good candidates. Liz Truss was able to win over a very narrow slice of the electorate that was obsessed with tax cuts so you have to have this balance in democracy between having people have their say and ensuring that enough people have their says.
