How to Write to a Disk
Magnetic hard drives use a very similar approach to the ones I described for floppy drives. If you bring a strong permanent magnet close enough to magnetic storage media, you'll erase the data that's stored there. The right head puts data on the disk drive by applying one of two magnetic fields to the tape.
