Lenny was a merchant seaman in the med. service; Ike fired his rifle ten or twelve times in combat. Larry Rose hadn't been killed in Algiers, maybe it would have been different. All three of us knew him from school and that kind of followed us home. After he died we all got kind of fastened together in everyone's minds.
