Is There a Discipline in Your Work?
I remember that you were engaging with silent film quite a lot in those early days. And I wondered how much that changed your relationship with the history of film, to a certain extent. It didn't really change my relationship to film because it was all parallel process looking at films and then thinking about video a little bit later. So sound changes the image. And it's something you can play with and work with. Is there a particular discipline in your daily working life that you see as an essential ritual? Well, I try to draw and then walk. Those are my rituals. And I walk my dog.
