Nons or Nons in Catholic Day?

Whether or not Nons actually means Nons the way that we think it may in Catholic day is another good question. He may be choosing to use this language because it's better to say Nons than at 3 PM, right? Or something along those lines. And that may also speak to the vagueness of time, right? People don't time things down to the fraction of the second in this world as I don't think most people have watches. That's why they became important in the first place - if you have the bells ringing certain prayers set at any time of day, people out in the village or the fields could hear the bells and then follow the time that way.
