Is the Gala Really the Progressive Thing?

If we've passed the event horizon technologically, that there's no uninventing all of this stuff anymore. How can Western civilization actually end when it's covered the whole world and China is basically those Chinese cities are basically just New York? The idea of the progressive narrative of things just continually improving, it isn't actually a given. We're entering this weird kind of stage now where it's as if the circular view of history is kind of dragging the progressive wig view of history into a downward trajectory.
