Bobby was an incredibly loyal, smart and courageous dog who accomplished an amazing feat. Scientists believe that dogs can detect magnetic fields and have an internal navigation system. Most of the dogs returned to their owners using scent, but one-third actually ran a compass run on a north-south axis for about 65 feet before heading back to their owners.
