Europe as compared to any other part of the world has had the largest number, not only of consecutive but independent conflicts period. In Europe we have these medium states in constant competition, never with one able to dominate from a center meaning that they're just going to keep fighting. That cycle of conflict is more than any other single factor that is why capitalism emerges in Europe.
