The Myth of Europe as the Most Conflict-Rich Part of the World
Europe as compared to any other part of the world has had the largest number, not only of consecutive but independent conflicts period. In Europe we have these medium states in constant competition, never with one able to dominate from a center meaning that they're just going to keep fighting. That cycle of conflict is more than any other single factor that is why capitalism emerges in Europe. The short-term need to compete with your fellow medium-sized states means that you have to encourage innovations that over time overthrow the world as you understand it.
