The Goths in Their Journey
The Saxons and Sarmatians were just two of the mini tribal groupings that sat just outside the boundaries of the empire. We could also mention the Franks along the middle of the Rhine River, who gave their name to modern France. And those are just the groups that actually impinged on the borders of the Roman Empire. At greater distance were the Lombards, the Vandals, the Jutes, the Angles, and course the Fearsome Huns.
