Using Cell Free Dna in Cancer Treatment

Cancer cells are highly abnormal as as we know. They break down, they necrose and release their contents much more readily than normal healthy cells. Patients with cancer tend to have very high levels relative to the general population of circulating, cell free dna. We're able to use these little fragments of dna to assess for these driver mutations that we can target with our drugs. It's a research tool, and we're not there yet to use in the commercial setting.
