The Potential Utility of Systemic Thrombolysis in Patients With Submassive PE
Two studies involved systemic thrombolytic therapy as interventions with submassive PE. One in four on anticoagulation arm patients tend to decompensate where the escalation is needed. Mortality risk changes drastically when you go into a massive PE category, one in four patient dies. A lot of PE patients are a healthy patients. Those other patients may not be walking around with multiple other comorbidities. I think there is the mortality rate overall into intermediate high-risk PE and a massive PE is somewhat unacceptable.
