Riots and general unrest can easily be coopted back into policy demands. Even martin luther king had a place for riots. And so it is so absurd that so much of the american left these days is just so quiet. They'll march to a aesthetic object of representation, but will they disrupt traffic? Will they shut down hospitals? I don't know. It's what people need.
