In 1968, Sandy was sent to the California Institution for Women in the San Bernardino Valley. This would be her on again, off again home for the next 20 years. She served time with some of the women in Charles Manson's so-called family including Patricia Crenwinkle who's still there today. By the early 70s, Sandy's criminal record included forgery of checks, forgery of prescriptions, possession of heroin, burglary, and fraud.
