The Importance of Silence in a Family
The problem here is not placing value on your relationship or the other person enough to actually talk about the troubles. They use silence as a sense of power. Double messages occur when someone says one thing and then they do another. That can be extremely difficult on a child. There's also a meshment. If one member of the family spends an extreme amount of time dealing with the problems of another family member this is what a meshment is. It does mean that family members don't feel personally responsible for the solution.
