The Effect of the Depression on Tulip Prices
There was a period when tulip prices rocketed but that went on for about six weeks. There is no real depression at this time, there's a slight downturn in trade dating from the late 1620s for a little bit. But if you look at financial figures to do with all sorts of different trades, there is no real effect on the economy. The collapse of the tulip prices and the resulting impoverishment had a chilling effect on Dutch economic life in the years that followed.
