Chris Doerner and the LAPD
In 2013, Christopher Doerner was fired by the LAPD. He claimed that this was because he reported on the use of excessive force within the department. On February 1st, 2013, Anderson Cooper's office received a package from Doerner. It included a DVD laying out his case against the department and a challenge coin issued by LAPD Chief William Bratton. Chris Doerner shot and killed Monica Kwan, the daughter of a former LAPD captain, and Keith Lawrence, her fiancé, and a campus police officer.
