The Risk of Inflation in the Bond Market

Inflation is like an unexpected tax. It's something coming at you from right field. Do you want to see a recession in order to quell the inflation? Well, this economy historically has done very well with prices declining over many years. If prices are rising, let's say every year at 6%, but everybody knows that. Our tax system is not fully indexed by a mile. And Social Security benefit kind of thresholds beyond which you're storing your Social Security benefit. Then we can live with higher inflation. But people are not expecting it, and then they get sucked. They invest at 2%, and the inflation rate turns out to be 6%, or 10%, and they get wiped out
