The Yellow Peril Scare

Billy Carlton died of an opium overdose in 1918. Ada Ping Yu was found guilty and sentenced to five months hard labor. She dies of tuberculosis shortly after serving her sentence, which is tragic. The inquest becomes more of a practice in digging up dirt on the witnesses than it does about bringing any sort of justice to Billy's death. A lot of what we see in America, you know, that serves as fodder for racist movies, TV series and more all the way through the 1970s.
