Carolina would always be the person with the darkest skin. Even her mam would sometimes pinch her cheeks and call her corde gambo skin, the color of rose apples. She felt like an impostor claiming membership in a group non white that she did not feel like she was part of. Do you feel like you belong to the group that people expect you to belong to?
