Transition Town

Transition Town is a community of communities trying to figure out how to wean themselves off oil dependency. It was set up in 2006, and has since grown into one of the UK's largest Transition groups. The idea came about when former mayor Peter Wanless moved to Tottenham with his students as he wanted to explore it further. He met other people like Sophie Banks and Hillary Prentice who started to bring other pieces of the puzzle together. And then very quickly people were coming to us saying, what is this transition thing? How do you do it?"
