The Snopes Field Guide to Fake News Sits and Hoax Purveyors
The index includes additional information for each site, including which of the above lists of the sites were flagged by pointer. Pointer has shut down un ews its data base high lighting unreliable news sights after discovering inconsistencies between sources used to build the data base and its file. After receiving complaints, pointer conducted an audit and found found weaknesses in the methodology used to categorize 515 news sights. According to a letter from editor barbara allen, we regret that we failed to insure that the data was rigorous before publication and apologize for the confusion and agitation caused by its publication.
