Hypotonic Fluids
The other hypotonic fluid is half normal saline. And basically we can think about it as half isotonic fluid and half free water. It's hypotonic in that it dilutes your sodium, if you want to think about it that way. But it also has some tonicity as some salt, right? So it's can hold on to some fluids in the extra cellular space. You might want to reach for it when you have he patient who's hyper netremic but also needs volume resuscitation.
