The Son of David, the King of David

Matthew is the book of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the son of David. Despite the fact that many Davidic kings were unfaithful, God nevertheless kept writing straight with the crooked lines of the dynastic successors from David. The very fact that you have Jesus born in Bethlehem, the birth of David took place there. You also have the virgin conceiving and bearing a child, which points back to the oracle in Isaiah seven verse 14.
