The Risks of Outsourcing a Product Development Process
Most companies do have the internal capabilities. CDMOs are willing to work with companies where any proprietary discoveries are passed on back to the company. Alternatively, as I mentioned, you may want to have some internal capabilities specifically focused on the proprietary aspects of what you're developing. And that can be relatively small to manage that while you continue to manage all of the standard development activities.
