The Origins of Translation in the Middle Ages
The concept of translation in the Middle Ages was encompassed by a Latin rhetorical term, Translatio. They tended to think of translation as something that you did between Latin and vernaculars. So when we look at this from the perspective of the translation that Merlin is doing between his omniscient knowledge and human earthly time and language, it's kind of difficult to think about a translation from a theoretical perspective.
