There was a strong feeling that the common should be given back to the people. A lot of women's campaigning to see an end to the military occupation of common land in our country. They were looking at the correlation between domestic violence and state militarization as part of the problem of a state that is only run by men. And certainly, in the eighties, that was a real concern. It really was a very different time. Although again, we're still struggling onward to get past a third of our parliament,. even now, being only women in representav. We haven't got 50 fifth representation or whatever.
