Lawrence and northern arab forces severed the crucial rail links to the south, made assaults on some defended railway junctions. The war in the middle east was won by hard power and mass, not by lawrence's guerilla campaign. Ultimately, the success of the revolt was really dependent on general alamby's vast egyptian expeditionary force in palestine. If the allied conventional forces had been defeated, it is unclear lawrence's resistance could have survived.
