The Transformational Power of John and Jesus

John and Jesus are cousins, so there's probably no reason to believe this is like the first time they've ever seen each other or anything like that. John would have prevented him saying, I need to be baptized by you. And do you come to me? Would Jesus answer to him, let it be so now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness and then he consented. It seems that John has a sort of divine mandate to prepare the way for the Messiah,. But I don't know that he's crystal clear on who that is or that that's his cousin until that moment that he lays eyes on him approaching.
