How to Build a Healthy Elder Culture
In a lot of the church and theological circles that you and I run in, there's a heavy, heavy emphasis on teaching. And yet like you said, if the elder qualifications are so focused, not primarily on teaching, but on how you relate to other people, how you care for other people, it seems that we're out of balance in the 21st century Western church. You know, imagine Dave that you're helping a young pastor, he's coming to you asking for help in building a healthy elder culture. What's the most important thing he can do? I would say think about the culture that he's aiming for and begin to model it himself.
