The story line of the new testament is that christ's life, especially death and resurrection and sending of the spirit, launched the new creational reign. When we come into union with him, we begin to participate in him being the image of god. So he's sanctified, wasn't he when he rose from the dead, sanctified, set apart from the earth. The diamond is the resurrected christ, who is the beginning of the new creation.
