The Rise and Fall of Mary Queen of England

On July 19th, 1553, the Privy Council declared Mary Queen of England. This was a major blow for Lady Jane and her father-in-law, Duke of Northumberland. The Tower of London went from being a fortress for Jane to being her prison. That November, Jane was put on trial for treason; she was found guilty and sentenced to be burned alive or beheaded as the Queen pleases.
