The Society of the Spectacle
The spectacle expresses nothing other than modern societies wish for sleep. It's almost like you can think of it as a self-defense mechanism or something more aggressive. If you woke up, you wouldn't want to buy anything; then what would happen? We're interested in people as spectacles, but we're not interested in having relationships with them. That's the kind of closeness that the economy forces upon us.
