How the Department for Transport Calculated Traffic
Traffic on minor roads rocketed by 72% in a decade, whilst dropping on major routes. The Department for Transport calculated the stats using Satnav and smartphone data. They found an eye-watering increase in traffic on London's sea roads and uncategorized roads between 2009 and 2019. Professor Sir David Spiegelhalter from the University of Cambridge explains how they work.
