The Rise and Fall of Televangeles
In order to understand televangeles, we need to understand evangelicalism. Evangelicalism evolved as sort of a branch of Pentecostalism. It incorporates elements of charismatic practice like faith healing and speaking in tongues. The United States has the largest proportion of evangelicals in the world. These are evangelical Christian ministers who broadcast their preaching traditionally on cable networks.
