The Importance of Kabbalah in the Renaissance

In Kabbalah, philosophy is absorbed into a coded and recoded language of scriptural images. Maimonides was doing the reverse, offering guidance to those who were perplexed by biblical language with Aristotelianism. In subsequent centuries Kabbalistic ideas will appear in numerous manifestations including Hasidic Judaism. We'll be looking next at the spread of Jewish thought beyond Spain and Provence where our focus has been for the last 15 or so episodes.
