There is a simple formula for how much fluid to ingest on average when you're exercising. The Galpin equation states that you should take your body weight in pounds, divide that by 30. For those of us who follow the metric system, we need approximately 2 milliliters of water per kilogram of body weight every 15 to 20 minutes.
