This led to a stelerator projects at the max plank institute for plasma physics called wendelstein seven x reactor. Some private fusion companies are sticking with the tokomac design, but scaled down and shaped like an apple. Key to these designs are new kinds of magnets made from ribbons of high temperature super conducting materials which should produce much stronger fields than conventional super conducting magnets used by eater.
