Andrew asks a good question, when you see a discrepancy between what we know to have been christian practice in times past and today. How do we sort that out? Were they wrong? Or are we wrong? And here's how i go at this. The scripture is the final and ultimate and unique authority for the christian faith and the christian lifed. We can always go to the church and say, listen, church, i have become convinced that this interpretation, as taught or confessed does not actually accurately reflect the word of god. Unt take that to your elders and present it to them and see how they respond.
