How Often Does Herpes Zoster Work?

The ACIP has not yet issued guidelines using the new shingles vaccine. It wouldn't make sense to give it right away, but I would say that someone with a history of herpes zoster should get the shingles vaccine. Joel Colan: There's not even good evidence that giving the antivirals or the steroids for that matter have anything to do with preventing post-epetic neuralgia. The data are kind of mixed. But early treatment makes that less likely.
