The History of the Pitchometer
Charlie Finley wanted to enforce this rule. He put up what he called the pitchometer at Memorial Stadium in Kansas City. The pitchometer was a 20 second clock, and it would count down. And after a couple of weeks, he took it down. But the notion of a pitch clock continued to live on as game times kept creeping longer.
