The Importance of Particle Physics

I stopped doing experimental particle physics about 10 years ago or so. And one of the reasons that I stopped that is and decided to go to teach at a weird liberal arts college, which for me was a kind of return to doing philosophical work. Particle physics is so hard to do experiments on now. The theory is way, way out ahead. It takes decades to build an experiment and then many, many years to take that data and analyze it.
