The Copyright Act of 1976 and the Turtles
After a two week trial, it took a jury only two hours to come out with a verdict clearing pop star Ed Sheeran of copying Marvin Gaye's Let's Get It On. The law that was the copyright law for most 20th century, the Copyright Act of 1909, did not allow for copyright in recorded sound because it was in its infancy.
