The Futility of American Men's Tennis
The last American man to win a Grand Slam singles title was Andy Roddick at the 2003 US Open Happy Anniversary. Taylor Fritz won Indian Wells last year, maybe the biggest event outside the Grand Slams in the Tour Finals too. Francis Tiafo made the semis at the US Open taking eventual champion Carlos Alcaras to five sets and three other Americans. Sebastian Corda, Ben Shelton and Tommy Paul all made the quarters of this year's first major, the Australian Open.
